Open Water Diver

Scuba Diver - the first step towards becoming a Diver
The Scuba Diver is the first recognised diving certification and is valid for the rest of your life - and you can complete it in just two days.
You will need to understand the most important parts of diving theory - why Mr Boyle is the most important person under water, how your equipment works and how you can decide whether you are up for a dive or not. For your studies, you will have your own book, a video and a competent instructor - and you will see it is easy. Because you learn diving in the water and not in the classroom, you will spend most of the time below the surface. That could be in the shallow part of the bay or in the pool. You will train the basic skills for safe diving: how to clear your mask, how to recover your regulator and, for sure, how to float in the middle of the water. You will learn how to solve problems - what can I do if I am low on air? How do I react if my regulator starts to free-flow? And how can I help my buddy at the surface? And because you want to communicate under water you will learn some important hand-signals. After training your skills in shallow water, you will do two dives in the Open Water, where you recap these skills at a safe depth - and enjoy some fantastic diving. As a Scuba Diver, you are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters, safe in the knowledge that you are at all times you have a Diving Professional with you. In just two more days, you can easily upgrade to become an Open Water Diver - now or in your next holiday, in fact wherever you find a PADI or SSI Dive Centre! |
Open Water Diver - become an autonomous diver
The Open Water Diver is an internationally recognized certification, valid for your entire life. It is the first qualification as an autonomous diver, following the EN 14153-2 standards, and allows you to explore the best dives worldwide.
You will experience an interesting, but comprehensive course, that includes some theory and a lot of in-water practice. You will learn: What happens in your body when you breathe compressed air? Why is your time under water limited, and how do you calculate a safe dive? Whatever you learn during the theory sessions - you will use it all immediately under water. As you feel the effects of diving physics, it will be very easy for you to understand it - even 10 year old children can understand complex physics this way. (For sure - we teach them a little bit differently... but yes, the can!) You will practice everything you need to be a safe diver in shallow water. Buoyancy is the most important skill to master, but there is a lot more - you should be able to remove your mask under water, just in case you want to rub your eyes during the dive to believe what you see... And even if it should never happen to you in your diving career, you will train several possible reactions to out-of-air-situations. Because you will want to dive deeper and deeper, we do four dives in the ocean, getting step by step to your maximum depth of 18 m. On these dives we repeat all the skills you trained previously, and you will learn to work as a buddy-team with your partner and orientate under water. After the course, you are ready to explore this new world - and continue your training, adjusted to your needs. |
